The Municipality of Bohinj is facing the rise of tourism on one hand and a need for affordable housing on the other. Empty real estate and new buildings are often filled with tourist accommodations on the expanse of the lack of housing for locals and others, who would like to live there. The visibility of the destination also results in the growth of real estates, which reduces the accessibility of housing for those families and individuals who cannot afford it. By designing a local housing strategy, the municipality wants to address the issue of solving the housing problems of young and old, as well as other residents in the area.
The Municipality of Bohinj selected IPoP in public procurement for the development of a municipal housing strategy. The task includes an analysis of the current situation, addressing issues, reviewing the needs of residents for housing and land for construction, as well as determining housing policy and a set of measures that serve to achieve the goals.
The subcontractors for the project were Anton Melik Geographical Institute of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Primož Medved.
