In the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 we are implementing the second edition of the project “Supporting the implementation of urban policies and the URBACT program”. The first project ran in 2016 and 2017. Both projects are being financed by the Slovene Ministry of the environment and spatial planning and are run in the partnership between IPoP – Institute for spatial policies and SOS (Association of Municipalities and Towns of Slovenia).
The main aim of the project is in line with the Amsterdam Agreement and Quit Declaration to support public policymakers on all levels, especially on the local level, for such public space management that provides cities and settlements in which people have the same equal opportunities and allows them to exercise their own fundamental rights.
Activities within the program in the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 are based on the transfer of experiences between cities and municipalities. We are organizing study visits in Slovenia and abroad, where participants will be able to learn from the cities first hand. The program includes a yearly international conference, where we discuss current issues and search for answers to the greatest challenges of Slovenian cities. We also offer individual support for cities and municipalities that show interest in the URBACT program.
