Urban agriculture and the food revolution

The 3rd Seoul Urban Agriculture International Conference takes place from May 30th to May 31st 2014 in Seoul, South Korea. This year the conference will discuss the relation between urban agriculture and on-going food revolution by focusing on the three main topics – urban agriculture and food, urban agriculture and sustainability, and growing food and community. The keynote speaker will be Jennifer Cockrall-King, the author of Food and the city, while other conference presenters include urban agriculture professionals, researchers and activists from Germany, Japan, Singapore, Slovenia, Taiwan, USA and South Korea.

The conference will take place from 10:00 to 18:00 on Friday and the field trip will take place from 9:00 to 17:00 on Saturday. During the field trip the participants will visit the Dari rooftop community garden in Hongdae, Nodul Island community garden, Gangdong Urban Agriculture Centre and the Seoul Forest Park community garden.

Presentations and discussions will be translated to English and Korean.

The conference is organised by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Kyung Hyang newspaper with participation of the Seoul Green Trust Foundation, Seoul City Farmers and University of Seoul.
